Atelier Notes

Small notes on light, paper and slow photography.

Contact sheets

Printing a full roll on one sheet still beats any screen for choosing frames. The eye compares, the hand marks, the decision is quick.

Morning light

The best hour is short. Most of the work is being ready before it starts: film loaded, lens clean, nothing to think about.

On paper

Matte paper forgives, glossy paper argues. Both are honest about the negative.
